About Us
Valerie Cavitt is a native Austinite. She received a BA in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Electronic Media and a Minor in Business Administration from Texas State University. During college, Valerie interned at KXAN-NBC, News 8 Austin and KTSW 89.9. Valerie is a Chi Omega and was in the Order of Omega National Greek Honor Society, as well as, on the Dean's List. She graduated from the Appalachian School of Law and received the Lawyer As A Problem Solver Mediation Certificate. While she was in law school, Valerie received the Willerd Owens Award for Excellence in Community Service and was the treasurer in both the Sports & Entertainment and Environmental Law Societies.
In addition, Valerie interned for the Travis County District Attorney’s Office in the Assault Family Violence Division and Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, where she focused on Tax and Consumer Law. Prior to practicing Criminal Defense, Valerie was an Entertainment Attorney for the Austin WebFest and a Personal Injury Attorney, where she handled many commercial and complex 18-wheeler accidents. Valerie is a woman of faith and attends First United Methodist Church in Round Rock. Due to her strong beliefs, Valerie wants to help individuals who recently made a mistake or were wrongfully accused. Valerie vigorously defends her clients in order to get them the best outcome. Her goal is to keep them from becoming repeat offenders.
Currently, Valerie is serving on the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association Ethics Committee, the Director of Community Involvement in the Williamson County Bar Association Women’s Law Section and a Board Member for the ASL Alumni Association. She is a member of: the American Bar Association, Williamson County Bar Association and Williamson County Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association. In 2017, Valerie served on Southwestern University’s Texas Hazing Law panel and will be presenting again during the Fall 2018 semester.
